Take some desirable sports cars, add some barn find mystique, and you’re looking at a lot of dough

In January, 2018, Tom Cotter stumbled upon one of the greatest barn finds in recent years. While technically lodged in a garage, not a barn, he chronicled on video the find of a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB and a Shelby 427 Cobra.

These are two of the all-time great sports cars and while covered in dust, both in outwardly good condition.

The pair recently sold at the Gooding & Company Amelia Island auction for eye-watering prices. The Ferrari fetched CDN$3.24 million and the Cobra brought in a tidy $1.35 million.

It’s likely that both of these vehicles are headed for an obsessive nut-and-bolt restoration where people will no doubt fuss over the correct date-coded radiator hoses, but we hope that someone leaves these refreshingly original cars alone. Both will doubtlessly need mechanical attention after sitting for so long but one hopes that repairs can be completed without altering the lovely original character of the cars.
