Nintendo has announced the date for its re-release of its re-release of the NES, the NES Classic Edition. The console, which sold out immediately upon its debut in November 2016, will return to store shelves on June 29th, and Nintendo expects it — along with the SNES Classic Edition — to be available through the end of the year,
Nintendo is also including 20 NES games with updated multiplayer features as part of its online subscription service for the Switch, set to launch this September. But it’s clear that there’s huge demand for these dedicated retro mini consoles — the company recently announced that it sold over 5 million units of the SNES Classic. This may well be one reason why there’s no Virtual Console download store for the Switch.
