Sheetz will lower its gas prices to $3.49 and $3.99 a gallon through July 4

Sheetz convenience stores will lower its price for unleaded 88 gasoline to $3.99 a gallon through the Fourth of July holiday.

Sheetz said it is helping to “reduce pain at the pump.” The lower prices are “effective immediately.”

The average price for a gallon of unleaded 87 gas in Pennsylvania today is $4.95.

Unleaded 88 gasoline will sell for $3.99 a gallon while the E85 will sell for $3.49 a gallon. Not all Sheetz locations offer these types of fuels.

According to Sheetz, “Unleaded 88 is approved by the EPA for use in vehicles for model years 2001 or newer as well as light-duty trucks, SUVs and Flex Fuel Vehicles.

“E85 contains more ethanol (51%-83%) and is not compatible with all vehicles. It is designed specifically for “flexible fuel vehicles” or FFVs. FFVs can use regular gasoline (E10), E15, or E85. When available, E85 is clearly designated as a different fuel type and should not be used in standard vehicles. Check your owner’s manual to see if your car is able to run with E85.”

Sheetz operates more than 650 store locations throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina. Sheetz is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Both GasBuddy and AAA have said that drivers will be paying the highest prices ever for the Fourth of July holiday travel time. Prices, however, have been slowly coming down in the past week and are roughly 20 cents lower than mid-June.

The national average gas price today is $4.89 a gallon. In Harrisburg, it is $4.92.
