The space gray versions of Apple’s Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad, Magic Mouse 2, and Magic TrackPad 2 are now available to purchase separately from the company’s new iMac Pro.
Previously, the space gray versions of the accessories were only available alongside Apple’s newest all-in-one desktop computer, which starts at $4,999 and is aimed at professional users. White-and-silver versions of Magic Keyboard, Mouse 2, and TrackPad 2 have been available, but the other models’ exclusivity led to complaints from some Apple users.
All three space gray variants come with a $20 price bump over their white counterparts, putting the space gray Magic Keyboard and Magic TrackPad 2 at $149 each and the space gray Magic Mouse 2 at $99.
The move comes on the same day Apple held an event in Chicago to announce a new iPad and education-focused software.
The accessories themselves haven’t changed since Apple refreshed the devices in 2015: you’re still looking at a relatively flat, low-travel keyboard—albeit one that has included a 10-key numpad since last June—a somewhat oddly shaped mouse that uses multi-touch gestures instead of traditional moving parts, and a slightly angled trackpad with support for Apple’s Force Touch gestures. They’re all wireless and rechargeable. (Apple no longer sells wired equivalents.) The Magic Keyboard model that does not include a number pad is still only available in silver.
The Magic accessories definitely aren’t for everyone, especially those who prefer the clickier feel of a mechanical keyboard. They aren’t cheap, either. But taking the space gray models out from behind their $5,000 paywall—eBay resellers aside—will likely make more than a few Apple loyalists happy.
