What we collect

When you simply read the site

We may use analytics tools to understand which articles are read and how people arrive here. No analytics tool is active as of the date above; if that changes we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for consent before any tracking begins.

When you subscribe to our newsletter

We collect the email address you give us and, if you choose to provide one, a mobile number. We use them to send you the newsletter you asked for, and SMS alerts where you have given us a number. The mobile number is optional — an email address alone subscribes you. We do not sell either. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list; to stop text messages, contact us and we will remove your number.

Server logs

Our web server records requests, including IP addresses, as a normal part of operating and securing the site.

Third parties

Some parts of this site load content from other companies, which means your browser contacts them directly and they may set cookies or receive your IP address:

  • TradingView — the market overview and ticker widgets.
  • Market Equities — images accompanying newswire articles may load from its servers.
  • Mailchimp — newsletter and SMS delivery, if you subscribe. Your email address, and any mobile number you give us, are stored on Mailchimp's systems.

The "Trending Now" data is sourced from Eagle Eye, but our server fetches it — your browser does not contact Eagle Eye. Typefaces are hosted on our own server — your browser does not contact a fonts provider.

Each of these has its own privacy policy, which governs what they do with that information.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. Cookies may be set by the third parties listed above when their content loads — analytics and the embedded market widgets in particular.

Because Market Equities Limited is established in Ireland, EU and UK data protection rules apply to visitors from those regions, and non-essential cookies require consent before they are set. This site runs no analytics; a consent mechanism will be in place before any is introduced.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser at any time. Doing so will not stop you reading the site.

How long we keep things

Newsletter subscriptions — including any mobile number you gave us — are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept for 30 days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how we use it, or to receive a copy. Contact us and we will respond.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email we send.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

We'll update this page if our practices change, and we'll change the date at the top when we do.
