Tesla originally released its white interior only for the more expensive Performance version of the Model 3, but it didn’t last long as Tesla has now confirmed that it is expanding availability to the Dual Motor Model 3.
The automaker started sending out emails to customers this week announcing the change:
“We’re now offering Premium White Interior for every Model 3 Long Range car with dual motor all-wheel drive. Inside, a continuous white décor replaces open pore wood on the dash—providing a more open, modern feel. All seats and door trims are wrapped in stain-resistant material, for a polished feel throughout the cabin.”
Tesla CEO Elon Musk mentioned the limited availability of the white interior – saying that they can only make 1,000 units per week and that the option will be linked to the performance version Model 3 until they can increase the capacity.
It looks like they are now able to increase production of the popular option, which was first introduced in the Model X.
Tesla has been introducing to more vehicles as it gained popularity over the past 2 years.
Seth was really impressed by the white interior when he test drove the Performance Model 3 last week – calling it ‘stunning’.
The material is called ‘Ultra White synthetic leather’ and it doesn’t include any animal product – making it a ‘vegan option’.
It’s a $1,500 option on top of the standard black ‘premium interior’. Those are the only two interior options currently available in the Model 3 as Tesla is still limiting options in order to streamline production as it ramps up.
Tesla is also apparently accelerating the delivery timeline for the Model 3 again. The automaker wrote in the email to customers:
You can design and order any Model 3 today for delivery in as soon as 1‑3 months.”
