The first Chromebooks with AMD processors are starting to hit the streets — HP unveiled a 14 inch model at CES earlier this month and it’s already available for purchase, while Acer has a 15.6 inch model on the way.
Now HP is introducing two new models — the HP Chromebook 14A G5 EE,which is should be available in April, and the HP Chromebook 11A G6 EE, which will launch in February.
They’re both aimed at the education market, but the 11A is particularly interesting, since it’s expected to be one of the first 11.6 inch Chromebooks with an AMD chip.
The HP Chromebook 11A G6 EE features an AMD A4-9120C processor, 4GB of RAM, and up to 32GB of eMMC 5.0 storage. It will be available in touchscreen and non-touch versions — with both versions features a 220 nit display panel and a 1366 x 768 pixel display resolution.
The computer has two USB 3.1 Type-C ports for data and power, two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, and a headset jack. there’s a 720p webcam, a spill-resistant keyboard, and a 47.36 Wh battery.
HP says the laptop has a starting weight of about 2.8 pounds and it measures about 12.” x 8.2″ x 0.7″
HP’s Chromebook 14A G5 will be available with 1366 x 768 pixel or 1920 x 1080 pixel IPS display options and has optional support for a backlit keyboard.
Detailed specs for this model will be available closer to launch, but it’ll certainly feature one of AMD’s new low-power processors designed specifically for Chromebooks.
