LG revealed the V50 ThinQ at MWC 2019, offering 5G and a case with a second screen (seen above). It looks like we can expect more of the same at MWC 2020, according to a report out of Korea.
The company will launch the LG V60 ThinQ in Barcelona, according to Yonhap, citing industry sources. And it’s tipped to offer 5G capabilities and a second screen case once again.
“LG Electronics is planning to showcase V60 ThinQ as next year’s first smartphone to expand its presence in the 5G market,” an unnamed industry source told Yonhap. “The company is expected to increase its shipments in South Korea, the United States and Japan.”
It’s believed that the second screen case on the LG V60 ThinQ will feature an “upgraded folding structure.” The outlet says the second screen case launched at MWC 2019 had “free stop hinge” technology so you could hold the second screen at any angle.
LG also launched the 4G-equipped G8 ThinQ alongside the V50 ThinQ, but there’s no word on a new G-series phone just yet.
The firm’s reported goal of increasing its shipments might be under threat from other manufacturers though. LG was part of the first wave of 5G devices thanks to the V50, but it’s facing stiffer competition as the likes of Samsung, Xiaomi, Motorola, HMD Global, and others all confirm plans for 5G devices using Qualcomm’s latest silicon.
