If your date of birth is between the 1st and 10th, your May Social Security payment will arrive soon

If you have a Social Security benefit and have not yet gotten it in May, the United States Government may be sending it to you very soon. The day of benefit collection is different for each retiree, as it depends on several factors.

Considering that there are four different groups of retirees in total, we need to know when these groups collect and to which group we belong. By keeping track of this information we will be able to note on our calendar at what time of the month we will be able to get our May Social Security retirement check.

Who gets the new May Social Security payment?

First of all, it should be made clear that the new May Social Security payday will be on the 8th of the month. But not all beneficiaries can get this benefit. Likewise, not all beneficiaries with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month can have this check either.

In order to collect the payment on this day, we need to meet two requirements:

  • Have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of the month.
  • Have a Social Security check accepted after May 1997.

Only in this way will we be eligible to get the payment on the 8th of the month. Keep in mind that on this day the Administration sends out the check, but not all retirees get the money on this day. In order to receive the money on the same day as the payment, Direct Deposit must be activated.

Remaining Social Security payments in May 2024

After the May 8th payment, the Social Security Administration will send out three more separate payments before the end of the month. In each of these payments, the Administration will pay a different group of beneficiaries. And the last of these checks will not be for retirees, but for another category of beneficiaries.

The remaining payment days in May and the requirements are:

  • May 15th. Post-May 1997 retirees with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month.
  • May 22nd. Post-May 1997 retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of the month.
  • May 31st. Supplemental Security Income recipients get their June payment in advance.

Remember that in order to get the money on the same day it is sent, we need to activate Direct Deposit. Also, keep in mind that each retiree gets a different amount, with the maximum Social Security amount being $4,873 per month.
