Stellantis NV is recalling almost 1 million vehicles over a software glitch that can disrupt vehicle backup cameras, the latest in a string of issues affecting rearview displays.
The recall affects nearly 850,000 Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge and Ram vehicles in the US from model years 2026 and 2027, Stellantis said Monday in a statement. Another roughly 107,000 automobiles outside the US are also affected by the issue.

The campaign adds to a series of problems that have made backup cameras one of the the most error-prone features in modern automobiles. A Bloomberg News analysis this month found that faulty camera systems have resulted in recalls spanning roughly 21 million cars since the US mandated the safety systems eight years ago.
Malfunctions can stem from a variety of underlying faults, including software issues and manufacturing missteps.
Stellantis’ latest recall is tied to radio software that could prevent the review camera’s image from appearing on a vehicle’s media screen. The company will provide customers with an over-the-air software update to fix the issue.
The carmaker said it isn’t aware of any related accidents or injuries.
